Jan Van Beveren

Jan van Beveren (March 5, 1948 - June 26, 2011)
Rest in Peace

6/26/11:
Jan was a very special person to the Dallas Texans.  He touched the hearts of many of our kids, parents and coaches.  He was a legendary soccer player in the 1960s and 1970s, playing in Europe and representing his home country, Holland by playing for many years on the Dutch National Team.  His professional soccer accomplishments are too long to list.  He has the books with his name and picture planted on the cover.  He has the restaurants bearing his name.  He has his picture hanging in the locker room at PSV next to Rinaldo's.

As he grew older, he preferred the very simple life that he enjoyed as a child. So, his next chapter, and as it turned out, his final chapter of his life was doing what he loved most: teaching soccer to youth in its most basic, most purest form.  Luckily, Jan brought his love, knowledge and passion of the game to the Dallas Texans, where he taught our kids the most fundamental things about life and about soccer. We will never forget those very special years.  Thank you Jan.  We will always remember you.

As with any death of a great man, we should remember, we should mourn, but we should move forward by honoring his life and the way he touched our lives, and the lives of our children who Jan so deeply loved.
